Peter Lowell: One Excellent Guy
Peter Lowell, the founder and lead organizer of the Four Square World Championships on Feb 27, 2010, in Bridgton, ME. Peter earned the Peter Lowell Excellence Award (yup, we're not kidding, we named it after him) for his sixth year of incredible dedication to this event and his ongoing work with the Lakes Environmental Association.
Christian Housh, New Mens World Champion
Christian Housh of Cambridge, MA, was crowned the new Mens Four Square World Champion. He beat sixty other men entered at the Four Square World Championships on Feb 27, 2010, in Bridgton, ME.
Christian was a returning finalist and faced of in the final round against familiar faces from past championship tournaments. Also in the round with him was Chris Glasser, the 2009 champion, who was gunning to keep his title. After 25 minutes of normal play, plus four overtime extensions, the four top ranking men were separated by a difference of only three points.
Corey Carmichael, New Women's World Champion
A new contender, Corey Carmichael, age 17, of Portland ME was crowned the new ladies world champion. She described herself as a "casual" four square player, but the we now have proof that she nothing less than a humble destroyer on the court. Corey beat out over forty other women for the title at the Four Square World Championships on Feb 27, 2010, in Bridgton, ME.
